First GB olympic trial this weekend

Straight off the back of Great Britain's success at last week's European Championships, this Sunday will be the first of 2 olympic trial events to select the 5 member team for London. The British Team Championships will take place at the Guildford Spectrum.

The event should hopefully be broadcast in a live/delayed fashion via British Gymnastics.

An entry list has not yet been announced, particularly interesting will be whether Marissa King and Beth Tweddle will compete. Marissa is recently returned to the UK from Florida where she has been busy competing with her NCAA team. The same goes for fellow 2008 olympian Becky Wing, recently back from Stanford. Beth Tweddle is (injuries aside) a definite lock for the GB team but it is not known if she will rest her recent knee injury or throw in a bar routine for the Liverpool team and the selection commitee.

The pressure will be on youngsters Ruby Harrold and Rebecca Tunney to show they can cope with 2 competitions in close succession and on other 'on the bubble' seniors to show they are just as worthy of consideration.

The second trial, at which the team and alternates will be announced is the British Junior and Senior Championships on 22 June. This still leaves a month for final training and last minute changes before the games begin.
